Today went a lot better. The kids were mostly listening and they were actually excited about the tournament tomorrow. We went over a head and arm defense called "The Homer Simpson." Basically, if you get thrown, you slide around until you can catch your opponent's leg with your leg. It's a really fun move and the kids enjoyed it. I'm really excited about the wrestling tournament tomorrow.

I just got home, and I'm exhausted. I've been running around on my feet all day. I don't think I had longer than 5 minutes to myself all day today. It was a constant routine of "Coach this kid, then run over and coach this kid." I never got a break. I think the highlight of my day was when I was on one side of the gym, watching Drake wrestle while Coaches Nick and Greg actually coached him. I was relaxing, drinking some water when over the speaker I heard "We need an Eagle Valley coach to Mat 4." I sprinted over from the other side of the gym, dodging past people and feeling like an action movie. I get to Mat 4 just in time so that Audrey won't be skipped. I sit down in her corner, out of breath from sprinting across the gym, and waved at the referee. The match got started, and I didn't even have time to say anything. Audrey immediately went in for a shot and pinned the guy she was wrestling. I was really proud of her because she warmed up and did everything without a coach's guidance. I'm happy to say that this is my last journal because I've completed my hours, which means I can now coach just to coach. I don't have to worry about writing down everything that happens around me anymore. I really have enjoyed writing these though. Maybe one day I can look back and read these and laugh at how inexperienced I am.
